PRESCHOOL SELECTION

Preschool applications are accepted from all over the county. As we receive applications, they are dated and filed.  We believe that children grow and learn better in a mixed age group situation, and it also assists us in training our high school students in growth and development.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Since we are a training site, it is vital to our program that the children attend preschool every day unless they are ill. If your child is ill, please let us know as soon as possible. If they are to miss many consecutive days, please contact the preschool teacher.

DISCIPLINE POLICY

Children need to know clearly what they can and cannot do. Limits need to be set. When it is appropriate, they are given choices. If a child has difficulty following a limit, he/she is given a "time away" with an explanation, usually 1-2 minutes, and then allowed to rejoin the group

HOLIDAYS/BIRTHDAYS

We are happy to celebrate your child's birthday in the preschool. Please let us know ahead of time. Try to keep the snack simple...cupcakes, cookies, finger jello, etc. If you do not celebrate birthday/holidays, please let us know.

HEALTH/ILLNESS

In the event of an emergency or accident, you will be contacted as soon as possible. If we are not able to contact you, we will contact the person listed on your emergency card. If we cannot contact you, we will seek emergency treatment as specified. Please do not send your child to school if they are ill. If your child has a communicable disease, inform us immediately so we can inform all other parents as soon as possible. If your child is going to be absent, call the preschool at 968-2271, ext. 5263.

All children must have current physical and up to date immunizations.

SAFETY

Your child's safety is very important to us and to everyone here at the CACC. Please read the following guidelines:

• Always walk your child in, do not allow them walk in by themselves.

• The preschool door is always locked. If you need to reach us during the session, please call 968-2271, ext. 5263.

• In the event of a school emergency, we will evacuate to Kellogg Community College, and we will contact you as soon as possible.

• It is extremely important that all phone numbers, addresses, and emergency contact people and phone numbers are current on your child's information card.

• Contact the teacher if you have any safety concerns.

WEATHER EMERGENCIES

In the event of school closings, please listen to the radio (WIN 98.5) or watch the television (WWMT Channel 3). If the CACC is closed, the preschool is also closed. If school is in session, it is up to you to decide if you want to send your child to preschool.

TORNADO/FIRE DRILLS

Children will participate in routine fire and tornado safety procedures. They are done a minimum of twice a year. We also have standard CACC fire and tornado drills.

OPEN DOOR POLICY

Parents are always welcome to come and observe any aspect of our program. Please let us know ahead of time if you wish to do so. If you decide to observe through the observation window, please keep in mind class is in session and we need you to observe quietly.

KEEP US POSTED

If you have any special skills or interests that you would like to share, please let us know. Always keep your child's file updated. Be sure we have current addresses and phone numbers at all times. If your child develops special health issues, fears, or unusual stress, let us know as soon as possible.

All students and staff are required to have a criminal and background check as well as child abuse and neglect. All staff are required to be fingerprinted.

The Early Childhood Education Program and the CACC are committed to providing a quality education for the preschoolers and high school students.
