Calhoun County Cosmetology Program 

 

 The Cosmetology Program prepares students who are interested in all aspects of the cosmetology industry. Two sections are offered that generally prepare individuals to cut, trim, and style scalp, facial, and body hair, apply cosmetic preparations, perform manicures and pedicures, massage the head and extremeties, and prepare for practice as licensed cosmetologists in specialized or full service solon. It includes instruction in hair cutting and styling, manicures, pedicures, facial treatments, shampooing, chemical applications, esthetics, shop management, sanitation and safety, customer service, entrepreneurship and applicable professional and labor laws and regulations. This is an off-site program and students must provide their own transportation. Twenty students maximum will be admitted to the cosmetology program. Students choose from one of the 2 sections below.

 

 
 

Section 1

The Salon Spa Academy

1416 West Columbia Avenue, Battle Creek


  • Tuesday through Saturday, 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
  • Open to seniors in high school
  • Must provide your own transportation
  • Strict dress code and attendance policy
  • Cost of books and kit included
  • Enroll through your local high school counselor – space is very limited


 After high school graduation:


  • Approximately 8 months of training, full-time = $9,125
  • Loans and grants available for qualified students

 

Section 2

Wright Beauty Academy

492 Capital Avenue SW, Battle Creek

 

  • Monday through Friday, 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Open to seniors in high school
  • Must provide your own transportation
  • Strict dress code and attendance policy
  • Cost of books and kit included
  • Enroll through your local high school counselor – space is very limited


After high school graduation:


  • Approximately 7 months of training, full-time = $4,500
  • Pell grants available for qualified students
