Program Description


The Calhoun County Cosmetology Program is for students who are interested in all aspects of the cosmetology industry.  The course focus is to prepare individuals to cut, trim, and style scalp, facial, and body hair, apply cosmetic preparations, perform manicures and pedicures, massage the head and extremities, and prepare for practice as licensed cosmetologists in specialized or full-service salons.  Students will choose to attend the Salon Spa Academy (Tuesday-Saturday, 1-4 p.m.) or Wright’s Beauty Academy (Monday-Friday, 12:30-4:30 p.m.), both in Battle Creek.  These are off-site programs, and students must provide their own transportation.


This off-site program is available to seniors only.

 

Students choose from one of the below cosmetology academies.

 

The Salon Spa Academy

1416 West Columbia Avenue, Battle Creek

 

  • Tuesday through Saturday, 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
  • Open to seniors in high school
  • Must provide your own transportation
  • Strict dress code and attendance policy
  • Cost of books and kit included
  • Enroll through your local high school counselor – space is very limited

 

Training required after high school graduation:

  • Approximately 8 months of training, full-time = $9,125
  • Loans and grants available for qualified students

 

Wright Beauty Academy

492 Capital Avenue SW, Battle Creek

 

  • Monday through Friday, 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.
  • Open to seniors in high school
  • Must provide your own transportation
  • Strict dress code and attendance policy
  • Cost of books and kit included
  • Enroll through your local high school counselor – space is very limited

 

Training required after high school graduation:

  • Approximately 7 months of training, full-time = $4,500
  • Pell grants available for qualified students
