The Strengthening Families PROTECTIVE FACTORS tell us that SOCIAL CONNECTIONS are a crucial element to family success and resilience. Both adults and children need social connections!

Help Me Grow Calhoun care coordinators can connect families to opportunities for connection throughout the Help Me Grow Network!

These opportunities for families to connect, learn about the resources available to families with young children in Calhoun County, and create natural connections with other families include but are not limited to the following:

Activities for families with young children:

• Public Libraries host storytimes and activities for families with children. Help Me Grow Care Coordinators can connect you to information about participation in these programs!
• All families with children birth to age 5 are invited to participate in Early Childhood Connections PLAYGROUPS that are held in various locations across the county.
• Early Childhood Connections Family Coaches partner with other programs and agencies to host and facilitate learning and networking opportunities for children and their caregivers. Some of these partners include Early On/CISD Special Education, Willard Library, Battle Creek Y Center, Catching the Dream Learning Center, First Presbyterian Church, multiple public school settings, and more!
• PLAYGROUPS provide carefully planned learning activities where families learn and play along with their child - to promote healthy development, social emotional learning, and natural family networks.

EVENTS

• Connecting families across the community means meeting families where they are! Therefore, Help Me Grow Care Coordinators attend community events throughout the year to bring information, care coordination, and resource information to families at events hosted by our partners and held in all corners of Calhoun County.
• Many times families can spot our Care Coordinators at the Help Me Grow Calhoun TALKING IS TEACHINGMOBILE. This mobile family resource center provides books and early literacy supports to families as well as referrals and connections to community programs and resources that meet families' individual needs.
