Early On
Early On
The first few years of a child's life are very important. Children grow and learn at different rates, so if you have questions about how your child is developing or if you think your child might need extra help, call Early On. Early On helps families get the help they need for their children.
If that little voice inside your head is telling you something isn't quite right with your baby or toddler, don't wait to reach out for help. The first three years of a child's life are much too important to let slip by, waiting to see if your little one outgrows your concern. Don't worry, but don't wait!
How Early On Can Help
Early On is a network of services for children who are developmentally delayed, or at risk of developmental delays because of an established medical condition, or who have a diagnosed disability. Early On services help children from birth to 3 years of age. Eligibility is not based on income and our services are free to the family.
The Early On office is located at 7454 B Drive N. Battle Creek, MI 49014 and can be contacted by calling (269) 660-2732 or (269) 441-1855. You may also call 1-800-EARLY ON (327-5966) for free information about your child's development and Early On services or visit the website at www.1800EarlyOn.org
What Services Does Early On Offer?
Early On Coordinators are located in each county and are available to help a parent decide if they want to enter the Early On system.
Evaluation: If it is suspected that a child has a developmental delay or a condition that could lead to such delay, an evaluation is initiated.
Individualized Family Service Plan: If the child is eligible for Early On services, an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) is developed. The IFSP addresses the developmental needs of the child as well as the needs of the family helping the child.
Service Coordination: An Early On Service Coordinator helps the parent coordinate the services outlined in their child's plan.
Implementation: Services outlined in the IFSP are implemented with permission of the parent.
Early On helps families get the help they need for their children. Parents know what is best for their families. At Early On, we listen to you. You will find friendly, supportive, and knowledgeable people who will talk to you about your concerns. Sometimes, we will arrange a free evaluation.
If the evaluation shows that your child needs help, we'll tell you how to get that help at little or no cost.
